8:58am: five butterflies. releasing soon, waiting for more sunshine.


splatters and dried pools of red liquid everywhere, looks like a crime scene.

your butterflies will expel a red liquid called meconium. this is a completely natural occurrence. meconium is the leftover part of the caterpillar that was not needed to make the butterfly. this is stored in the intestine of the butterfly and expelled after the butterfly emerges.


one butterfly is lopsided and hasn't opened their wings, only trembles. one keeps trying to climb on top of their siblings. one is resting up high and seems frustrated that they can't grip onto the plastic ceiling, keeps jabbing their legs at it which makes it look like they're waving at us. S says the spice girls emerged sometime sunday morning.
