12:22pm: the spice girls have hit a growth spurt overnight. two days ago one would’ve fit comfortably on a human pinky nail. today they would need a big toe. ed is hanging out near the lid. one (jordan?) is having grub time and the other three are clinging to the sides of the cup. a moment ago one was suspended in the silk layer.

each caterpillar has about 10 rings of spikes around their body.

2:59pm: the spice girls showed no signs of anxiety or disorientation at today’s staff meeting despite being transported down three floors to be stared at by a room full of strangers. they were born to perform. one caterpillar likes to hang out on the silk layer. this caterpillar will be known as patti.

concerns were raised regarding the caterpillars’ sensitivity to sound, as construction on the roof is set to begin next week.

6:35pm: betsy observes thin white stripes developing along the length of the caterpillars' bodies.
