9:06am: the spice girls had a photoshoot this morning. three caterpillars rest securely, upside down, on the lid. two are not quite there. all five are very still.

12:25pm: a round black fuzzy bit, maybe 1/6 the size of a caterpillar at their current size, is stuck to the rim. wonder if this is one of those exoskeletons the brochure told us to keep an eye out for? or a piece of one?
